The Chief Executive of the Letterkenny Chamber, Toni Forrester, has spoken of her regret at the closure of another independent trader after the long established Bakersville eatery on the town’s Church Lane shut its doors last week.

A hugely popular haunt, the cafe had been running for around twenty years under its proprietor Kevin Keeney. Its sudden closure last Wednesday was greeted with surprise and shock by its regular patrons.

Commented the Chamber C.E. yesterday: “It’s very sad to see another independent trader gone in the town, sad to see a business so close to the Main Street closing up.

She added: “You have to remember the employees involved - it was their livelihood. It’s a very tough time.”

This paper was unable to contact Mr. Keeney for a comment on the sudden closure of the premises.
