The poor winter weather of the past two years had left the upper part of the Long Lane from Meadowbank to Fairgreen Hill in urgent need of repair, Letterkenny Town Mayor, Councillor Gerry McMonagle maintained this week.

Speaking at the monthly meeting of the Town Council, he maintained the road was “cutting up bad” and proposed that the Authority include a resurfacing schedule in its Road Works programme for 2012.

Seconding the motion, Cllr. Ciaran Brogan said it was a very busy road and it was important that the work be carried out.

Cllr. Victor Fisher wondered if the money was available for a resurfacing programme and was informed by Town Engineer, John McCarron that a couple of options would be looked at including the 2012 Roadworks programme.
