The Dungloe fire brigade and its crew were forced to initially withdraw from the Mary from Dungloe carnival parade in order to attend to a blaze at a house in the town.

The fire was discovered in an outhouse on Sunday afternoon at a house at Carnmore Road and was spreading quickly under an oil tank.

Local fire crews had to use water and foam to bring the blaze under control and no damage to the house was reported.

The town was just filling up with people arriving to attend the parade and most were using Carnmore Road to access the main street.

Later, the brigade and crew returned to partake in the return leg of the parade, some onlookers unaware that they had been on a rescue call just minutes earlier.
