Two children holidaying in Donegal recently came across a very unusual creature that had been brought in on the tide and left on an isolated beach at Malinbeg, Glencolmcille.
Their father, having no idea what the beast might be, took a photograph and sent it in to the Donegal Democrat, hoping one of our readers might have some idea.
He did not want to be named but said: “It has teeth, fur, is 6m long, and has a large bulbous head.”
The mystery was soon cleared up however.
The picture was shown to Wildlife Ranger Tim Roderick, in the Dept. of the Environment.
He said: “It’s difficult to say from the picture but it’s almost certainly a harbour seal.”
