Bundoran gardaí are appealing for information following an alleged assault on the town’s sea front in the early hours of Monday morning.

They confirmed that a teenage girl from the locality received injuries to the face which necessitated stitches. The injured party was taken to Sligo General Hospital where she received treatement, but was later discharged.

A garda spokesman said that the alleged incident was under active investigation and that anyone with information, should contact Bundoran gardaí on (071) 9841203 or Ballyshannon on (071) 9858530.

“The alleged incident took place sometime between 3am and 4am in the morning of Monday, August 1 in the sea front area of Bundoran. We would be anxious to hear from anybody that can help us with your investigation,” the spokesman told the Democrat.

While there were a number of arrests in the south Donegal area for alleged public order offences, “it was a generally quiet weekend, despite it being the bank holiday weekend and many celebrating Donegal’s victory in the All Ireland quarter final,” he added.
