Gardai in Letterkenny confirmed last night that a definite line of enquiry is being followed in their investigations into the robbery of a service station on the outskirts of the town on Sunday evening.
A man entered Nyne’s Gala at Killylastin at around 6.30 pm with a concealed weapon and demanded cash from a female shop assistant. It is understood that the man fled the shop after making off with a four figure sum.
After the alarm was raised the scene was corndoned off and it is understood that CCTV from the store has been viewed by investigating gardai.
Speaking yesterday, one local who is a regular customer at the store, described the robbery as “a cowardly act”.
“This was a despicable act and a cowardly act,” she said.
“For a man to enter a shop with a weapon and demand cash from a young woman trying to go about her work is the lowest of low.
“Hopefully, he will be caught and will be brought to justice. This area and this town can do without the likes of people who indulge is such low level stunts,” the woman added.
