"Donegal Mart is open for business" - Manager
by Matt Britton
As a result of ongoing speculation in local media concerning the Donegal Livestock Mart, the mart manager has come out publicly to reassure people that the mart is trading well and is very much open for business.
It seems that rumours arose following controversy at the Livestock facility last week whereby there were calls for a new committee to be elected.
Following comments made by former committee member last week the current committee members, issued a statement in this newspaper describing the comments as ‘regrettable'.
However, yesterday morning the manager of the mart Emer McGuiness says there is still a lot of misunderstanding surrounding the mart but she says, she wants to clarify, that it is very much open for business.
The Chairman of the Mart, Eamonn Brogan also told this newspaper, "There seems to be a certain element of people trying to undermine the workings of the mart with innuendoes and rumours.
"We are in the fortunate position that we are enjoying a healthy trade in difficult times and both the committee and our manager would much more prefer to focus on running the mart than dealing with media enquiries which are serving no purpose in ensuring the efficient running of this business."
