What had already been a great year for Donegal pianist Nadene Fiorentini has ended on another high with the release of her debut album.

What had already been a great year for Donegal pianist Nadene Fiorentini has ended on another high with the release of her debut album.

The recordings on ‘Piano Recital’ were part of the young musician’s prize for being the highest-placed Irish competitor at the Dublin International Piano competition in 2012.

“2014 was a brilliant year for me. The Dublin International Piano Competition opened so many doors for me and I am so grateful so therm for the opportunities since,” she told the Donegal Democrat.

From Greencastle, she was selected as the National Concert Hall’s rising star for 2014 which saw her perform a solo on the main stage in March, a highlight of her career to date.

“It was nerve-racking but when you have the preparation done you just have to relax, trust yourself and let the music speak for itself. It was a proud moment.”

Nadene divides her time between Dublin where she is teaching and studying for a doctorate at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and Donegal, where she teaches music every week.

“It important to give back what I got myself. I like passing it on to the next generation.”

In July she made her debut as a soloist with the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra which was broadcast live on RTÉ Lyric FM. “It was completely sold out. I was delighted with the reception. It was amazing.”

She is set for the National Concert Hall again in the coming year. The album, which was launched on December 20th, has been a perfect way to crown a great year. “It was a huge mark in my career doing the record. I’m trying to break though in a hugely competitive field and it is necessary to get myself out there for all the people who have come to support me at live performances and it is another way to get my music out there through another medium.”

There will be a chance to see Nadene in Donegal when she performs at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny in March.

The album, Nadene Fiorentinoi: Piano Recital, is released by Pine valley Productions. Copies cost €12 including postage and packaging and are available by emailing: nadene2708@eircom.net, the facbook page: www.facebook.com/nadene.fiorentini.
