The official opening of the new Sheephaven Credit Union headquarters in Carrigart takes place this Saturday.

The official opening of the new Sheephaven Credit Union headquarters in Carrigart takes place this Saturday.

The day will mark the fruition of a long term project by the organisation to replace their original premises, which was also on the towns main street.

The new building is on the site of the old North Star pub, which the group purchased from EBS Building Society through Property Partners and developed in major project over recent years. The total cost of the purchase and construction of the premises was €486,181, it was reported at their AGM. The work was carried out by Kelly and Sons Contractors.

The new building boasts much more space and facilities compared to their former headquarters.

Events get underway on Saturday at 4pm. The official launch will be performed by Minister of State at the Department of Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Affairs, Deputy Joe McHugh TD.

There is a host of entertainment planned including face-painting, a bouncy castle and characters from the Disney hit musical “Frozen”. There will also be music and cash spot prizes on the day and everyone is invited to attend.

The groups last AGM heard they enjoyed another year of growth. They last opened a new premises in 2006 with their purpose built Creeslough branch.
