Talks are ongoing that it looks like independents may take the chairperson and vice chairpersons seats in the first year of Donegal County Council.
The council AGM in Lifford has been adjourned until 1pm.
Outgoing Mayor, Councillor Ian McGarvey, announced at about 11.30am that the council would adjourned until 1pm to allow groupings to finalise certain agreements.
The 37-member council today will appoint their chair and vice chair, along with dozens of other positions on council committees and external bodies.
It is understood that representatives from the groupings on council were still meeting at 4am this morning to negotiate positions on council appointments and other matters
