The young woman killed in an overnight road accident in Ballybofey has been named locally as Kym Harley.

The young woman killed in an overnight road accident in Ballybofey has been named locally as Kym Harley.

The 19-year-old was the daughter of local Fine Gael councillor Martin Harley.

The single vehicle collision occurred at Dreenan at approximately 4.25am on Tuesday morning.

The woman, who is from the area, was a front seat passenger when the car she was travelling in hit a ditch.

The 19-year-old male driver suffered minor injuries.

The road is closed while a forensic examination is carried out and diversions are in place.
