Two suspects have been detained for questioning in connection with last week’s arson attacks on the Orange Hall and Presbyterian Church in Convoy.
The two men were arrested last night and are currently being questioned.
The arrests come after an investigation got underway following the destruction of the Orange Hall and the attempted arson of the Presbyterian Church in Convoy in the early hours of Friday morning.
Those attacks came three weeks after the Orange Hall in Newtowncunningham was destroyed in an arson attack.
Gardaí believe that the attack on the Orange Hall in Convoy is linked to the attempted arson of Convoy Presbyterian Church which was discovered just hours later.
The fire at the hall, which was discovered at around 4am on Friday, destroyed the building’s roof and main hall.
