By yesterday morning the viral trend had transformed into a fundraising phenomenon, generating over €1 million (with more to come) windfall for the Irish Cancer Society and with Daffodil Day on Friday donations are expected to continue.
The #nomakeupselfies campaign raised the money in just 48 hours, the charity said, with hundreds of thousands of donations from Facebook, Instagram and Twitter users sharing pictures of themselves without makeup and nominating a friend to do the same.
As usual Donegal was not found wanting when it came to raising money for worthy causes and today we feature some well known faces who joined in this novel but brave fundraiser.
Well known personalities including Mairéad Ní Mhaoinnigh, Majella O’Donnell, Ramona Nicholas, Lisa McHugh to name but a tiny fraction joined in the phenomenon expressing the same belief - “We won’t give up until Cancer does!”
