Four men have been arrested after a Garda patrol car was rammed during an operation by gardaí investigating crime in east Donegal.
The incident took place following an operation in the Doneyloop area at lunchtime on Wednesday.
The operation followed a number of burglaries and suspicious activity in the east Donegal area in recent days.
It is understood the silver Mercedes was spotted in suspicious circumstances in Lifford, Raphoe, Manor and St Johnston area in recent days.
The four men, who are from Northern Ireland, were last night being held at Letterkenny and Milford garda stations.
It is understood the car, a silver Mercedes, was travelling at high speed when it was encountered by gardaí.
Local county councillor Gerry Crawford said it had yet to be confirmed if the incident is directly related to recent reports of suspicious activity in the area.
