Repair works which are being carried out on Sliabh Liag are expected to be completed this week.
Almost 500 tonnes of locally sourced quartzite stone is being transported onto Sliabh Liag. The colour and geological make up of the stone is in keeping with the mountain. Works commenced on Monday and approximately 30 bags were placed on the mountain. Weather conditions meant that work had to cease several times. Work on Tuesday was successful and approximately 150 bags were placed on the mountain.
It is expected that it will take 20 flying hours to complete works on Sliabh Liag.
Wexford based company, Metro Building Contractors were appointed to carry out the works and have employed a number of local people and local contractors to assist with the works.
