Well-known and much respected Letterkenny man Paddy Delap was honoured by Letterkenny Town Council at a civic reception which was held in the council chamber in Letterkenny on Thursdsay night.
The packed event was held to mark Paddy Delap’s significant contribution to charity over the last two decades. Paddy Delap thanked everyone for bestowing him with such a wonderful honour. He added that he didn’t expect such an honour for something that he enjoyed doing.
The local authority hosted the event in recognition of Mr. Delap’s contribution to the community and in particular with regard to the annual Sligo to Letterkenny charity cycle which has raised over €600,000. The event was highlighted at the last meeting of Letterkeny Town Council.
Town clerk, Paddy Delap and many members of the council staff were all in attendance.
Mr. Delap thanked Frances Freil for sending out the many invitations which were all very readily accepted.
Mr. Delap spoke kindly of Micheal Toner, a man who was instrumental in developing the concept which led to the charity.
He thanked Mrs. Margaret Toner for all her kindness and all the volunteers who have contributed over the years, his family, neighbours and friends for all their support.
