Four Donegal seafood processing companies are to receive grants totalling more than €540,000.
Deputy Joe McHugh TD, welcomes today’s announcement by the Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine, Simon Coveney TD, on the awarding of €2.4 million in grant aid to 20 seafood processing companies nationwide.
The Donegal grant allocations under the 2014 Seafood Processing Business Investment Scheme are as follows: Proseail An Clochan Liath Teo €175,80; Charles Vial (Fish Merchant) Ltd. €35,554; Earagail Eisc Teo €312,450 and Arctic Fish Ltd €16,953.
Deputy McHugh said: “This scheme plays a vital role in the fishing industry and ensuring the continued growth of a key sector in Ireland.”
The fact that four Donegal companies were awarded over half a million euro in total, he added, “highlights the important role that these processing companies, and the seafood industry in general have to play in a county like Donegal, where an emphasis has remained on our natural resources”.
He noted that the scheme, which hinges on match funding from private investment, “will total almost €8 million in 2014”.
