The remains which washed up at Bundoran on Tuesday, April 15 have been identified as those of John Stenson from Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

The remains which washed up at Bundoran on Tuesday, April 15 have been identified as those of John Stenson from Castlebar, Co. Mayo.

The 58-year old went missing while walking on Salthill Promenade on March 24th.

His family thanked all those who helped in the search for him.

Meanwhile, gardaí believe that they have identified the remains which were found today near the West End Cliff Walk in Bundoran.

They are awaiting formal confirmation of this and are not yet releasing the name of the man.

He is thought to be in his 50s and from Northern Ireland, with a holiday home in the sea side resort.
