Donegal County Council has adjourned their reconvened budget meeting this morning until 2pm, in respect of the funeral of sisters Jolene and Anngeline Brogan, who died when a fire broke out on Friday morning in their home at Céanann View, Mountain Top, Letterkenny.
Jolene, age 28, and Anngeline, age 27, were being laid to rest today following a funeral mass at St Columba’s Church, Dromoghill.
County councillors and County Manager Seamus Neely extended their condolences before adjourning this morning to the Brogan family, to the family of Maura Porter, who died on Dec. 30th after being struck by a car near her home at Churchtown, Carndonagh; and to the family of former councillor John Kelly of Falcarragh, who died on Monday morning.
Donegal Mayor, independent Cllr. Ian McGarvey, also called for a moment of silence on behalf of Jolene and Anngeline Brogan, Maura Porter and John Kelly.
Mr. Kelly served as chairperson of Donegal County Council from 1970-71 and from 1979-80. He was also chairperson of the Cloughaneely GAA and the long-serving chairperson of Donegal Community Games.
