Mairead Ní Mhaonaigh of Altan will unveil a commemorative bust of the legendary Donegal fiddler Johnny Doherty at this year’s Johnny Dohety Festival in Ardara.

This stunning sculpture was commissioned by the Ardara Comhaltas branch and was sculpted by Redmond Herrity.

The unveiling will take place on the Diamond at 8pm on Thursday, September 26 and is very much the highlight of the Opening Day of the 5th annual festival.

Another big highlight will be the American band, Cherish The Ladies, who were recently nominated for a Grammy Award and who have delighted packed houses on previous visits to Ardara.

As always, the organisers have provided something for everyone to enjoy, with Concerts, Ceilis, Barn Dances, Sean Nós, Set Dancing, Workshops, Pub and Street Sessions.
