A man and woman have been injured in an aggravated burglary in the Lifford area.
A man in his mid thirties and a woman in her late twenties were admitted to Letterkenny General Hospital for treatment to injuries following the incident on Saturday night.
The extent of their injuries is not known.
It is believed one person entered the house during the incident which took place between 7.30pm and 8pm in Porthall.
It is not known what was taken from the house during the incident.
The Garda press office confirmed on Sunday that an investigation into the attack is ongoing.
It is understood that a wheelbrace was used in the attack and that head and hand injuries were inflicted on the couple.
The incident is the latest in a spate of burglaries in the east Donegal area of the county this year. The burglaries have led to calls for increased garda resources.
