A Donegal woman who was at the centre of a high profile ‘right to die’ court case, has passed away this morning.

59-year-old Marie Fleming had taken a landmark Supreme Court case to secure a right to an assisted death.

She was originally from Lifford.

The late Ms Fleming,a university lecturer, lost in her attempt to ensure that her partner Tom Curran would not face prosecution if he helped end her life.

She has lived with Multiple Sclerosis for several years.
