The 1,000 kilometre walk for kids is back again for its third year and takes place this Sunday, 13th October at the Mall Park, Ballyshannon.
You know the story by now – we need as many people as possible to come along to walk 2,540 laps to reach the 1,000 km target.
Walk starts at 12 noon and it is hoped that any local families who have attended Crumlin in the past or still attend will come along to start the walk off. This year all monies raised will be contributed to the ‘Fix Crumlin’ campaign.
This development which is now near completion has seen the cancer ward being renovated and a new modern cardiac ward being built. These changes introduce private, ensuite rooms for the patients, many of whom spend long periods of time in hospital.
This all replaces overcrowded, cramped wards where parents have to sleep on floors often in the way for nurses taking care of their child. It is fantastic to see these developments happening and important for our sick children that this project is finished.
Tracey Flood, who is organising the event for the third year, appealed for support: “This is an important fundraiser and I am asking as many people as possible to turn out.”Hopefully the weather will be kind to us on the day, as it has over the past couple of years, walk will go ahead though even if sun doesn’t shine! A donation of €3 per person or €10 for a family is suggested. Please come along and support this worthy cause on Sunday.
