Henry McGarvey, the former Chief Executive at Pramerica Systems Ireland in Letterkenny has been appointed Head of Department of Computing and Creative Practices at IT Sligo.
A native of Milford, Donegal, Henry has more than 20 years’ experience in multinational organisations in Ireland and abroad and while working as CEO at Pramerica Systems Ireland in Letterkenny the company which grew from 100 to 1000 employees during his tenure.
Currently a Board Member of IDA Ireland and Chairperson of the Donegal Clinical Academy Trust Limited, Henry has also previously held management positions in Motorola and Accenture.
Mr McGarvey said he is excited to join IT Sligo at such an interesting time in higher education: “Higher education is going through a period of significant change currently, so it’s an exciting time to be joining IT Sligo. Education is the key to unlocking potential in both students and in our region and it will play a critical role in the recovery of our economy. I’m looking forward to working with a dynamic group of staff and students in the Department of Computing and Creative Practices and in working with our stakeholders to ensure that our course are producing graduates with the skills that they need,” he said.
