The Rotary Club of Strabane/Lifford, in partnership with Danos Pet Shops, has organised a dog show and community fun day for this weekend.
The Rotary dog show and fun day will be held Today Saturday, Sept. 21st, at the Score Site, Canal Basin, Dock Street, Strabane. Proceeds will benefit Knockavoe School and Resource Centre and RehabCare in Lifford.
Other attractions will include face painting, fortune telling, novelty stalls, music, barbecue and other refreshments.
Festivities and registration for the dog show start at 12.30pm, and the show itself begins at 2pm.
Class 1 will be for all terriers only. Class 2 will be for small dogs, including terriers. Class 3 will be for medium and large dogs, from 20 pounds or 9 kilograms and upwards. Class 4 is for rescue dogs. Class 5 is a puppy class, and all dogs must be 12 months old or younger. Class 6 is for young handlers, children under 12 years old. Class 7 is for dogs with the best trick. Class 8 is for dogs with the waggiest tail. Class 9 is for the dogs most like their owners. Class 10 is best in show.
Rosettes will be awarded to dogs finishing first, second and third in all classes. A special prize will be awarded to the first-place winner in each class, and dogs coming in first and second in classes 1 through 9 will be eligible to compete for Best in Show.
Responsible dog owners are to have poop scoop bags and dogs must be on a lead at all times. Young pups should be vaccinated. Entry fee per dog is 3 pound sterling for one category; 5 pound sterling for two categories; and 6 pound sterling for three or more categories.
