Family’s plea to hit and run driver
As the grief stricken family of hit and run victim Alan McSherry said their final goodbyes yesterday to the surfer that Bundoran loved as one of their own, Alan’s brother Terrence made an emotional plea to those responsible for his brother’s tragic death.

As the grief stricken family of hit and run victim Alan McSherry said their final goodbyes yesterday to the surfer that Bundoran loved as one of their own, Alan’s brother Terrence made an emotional plea to those responsible for his brother’s tragic death.

“This person or persons will have to live with this for the rest of their lives and will never have peace.

“Not only has this tragedy ripped our family apart, it has also ripped the community of Bundoran in shreds. It has had a devastating effect on many people and I would urge whoever is responsible to come forward, if only for their own peace of mind.”

Alan McSherry’s widow Jo is escorting her husband’s remains back to Birkenhead today.

Yesterday, she said that she will be returning to Bundoran. “This is where my home is - the place that Alan and I both loved.”
