A road traffic collision which claimed the lives of two young men on Sunday evening on the Fermanagh/Donegal border has left the communities of Ballyshannon and Pettigo in deep shock.

A road traffic collision which claimed the lives of two young men on Sunday evening on the Fermanagh/Donegal border has left the communities of Ballyshannon and Pettigo in deep shock.

Two men, aged 18 and 22 died following the one vehicle road traffic accident at 4.20pm on the Pettigo Road, Kesh and have been named as John Irwin (22), who lived between Newtownstewart and Drumquin, and 18-year-old Sean Martin from Pettigo.

Both men were well known in the south Donegal area and since the news emerged on Sunday evening there has been an outpouring of grief on social media from their many friends. Both men have been descibed as absolute gentlemen in their community.

Sean was a past pupil of Colaiste Cholmcille in Ballyshannon and the tragic deaths of both men has evoked widespread sadness on both sides of the border.
