There were tense scenes in Burnfoot on Thursday night, as gardaí brought a serious fight in the street under control.
According to local witnesses, who asked not to be named, a vehicle crashed into the bridge at Burnfoot at around 10.40pm.
The occupants fled on foot in the direction of the Halfway House. A furious row broke out and gardaí were called. At one stage, a local stated, as many as eleven garda cars were at the scene.
Supt. Andy Archibold confirmed that gardaí dealt with “a large disturbance” on the night. He added: “Gardaí responded quickly. There were units from Buncrana, Burnfoot, Muff and the Traffic Corps. The disturbance was quelled and the crowd dispersed. There were no arrests.”
