Local radio stations Ocean FM, which broadcasts in south Donegal, north Leitrim and Sligo and BBC Radio Foyle were in celebration mode at the weekend after a series of wins at the PPI National Radio Awards.
Ocean FM won five gold awards, one silver and a bronze at the ceremony held on Friday in Kilkenny.
BBC Radio Foyle won gold in the Local Station Of The Year category and presenter Sarah Brett picked up the News Broadcaster of the Year Award. They also won a bronze in the Specialist speech category.
Ocean FM’s Lazy Afternoon took the gold for Best Magazine Programme, with ‘Paddy at the Proms’ taking the gongs in both the Music Special and Specialist Speech categories.
‘Mary Motorhead’ won the Drama section, while ‘UFOanna I Mainister na Buille’, a joint Irish language project with the Ursuline College in Sligo, triumphed in the Best Irish Language Programme category.
