A retired school teacher, Nabla Coyle from Bunaninver, Gaoth Dobhair was selected as the Person of the Year at this year’s Féile Thraidisiúnta Chnoc Fola. Nabla spent most of her teaching career at Scoil Mhuire, Derrybeg. She has had a long association with Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola and the award was presented to her in recognition for the diligent work and contribution while serving on the committee. She is also credited for forming a children’s band in the area, which had the late Nóra Mhic Mhonagáil as their tutor. She also formed a branch of the Irish Country Women Association (ICA) in Bunaninver during the sixties.
She also has had a long association with the Gaoth Dobhair Credit Union. During her time as teacher at Scoil Mhuire, she established the first library in the school and spearheaded a drive to have a telephone line connected to the school. At the opening ceremony of Féile Chnoc Fola at Teach Mhuiris, Brinaleck on Friday, Mary Jack Mhic Páidín of Coiste Forbartha Chnoc Fola presented her with a pottery tea service and flowers.
