A Ballyshannon supermarket, employing up to 30 part and full time staff has closed, it’s understood with the loss of all jobs.
Social media and other sources have indicated that Ormston’s Mace in the centre of Ballyshannon closed for business on Monday evening.
Sources indicate staff were briefed by management at the supermarket circa 7.30pm and were told that the business would close, it’s understood with immediate effect.
Mayor of Ballyshannon, Phonsie Travers, told the Donegal Democrat: “I learned of the closure a short time ago. It is a devastating blow and our thoughts are with all concerned. To lose 30 jobs in Ballyshannon where jobs are scarce is a huge blow and many people, myself included, are just coming to terms with it. It’s very bad news indeed.”
