Prayers were offered at a Sunday Mass today in Ballyshannon for 30 staff who lost their jobs in the town last week wit the shock closure of a local supermarket.
The Ormston Mace business in the centre of the town closed on Monday evening after workers were told at a meeting by the owner Fred Ormston that the business could not continue.
Speaking at the start of Sunday morning mass, Fr Frank McManus, CC, St. Joseph’s, The Rock, said the thoughts and prayers of the community were with the workers at this “difficult time”.
During the Prayers of the Faithful a special prayer for the Mace workers was read to the congregation.
Meanwhile, efforts continue to find a replacement business.
