A Donegal man has claimed the All-Ireland Lamb Shears championship title at this year’s Ploughing Championships.

A Donegal man has claimed the All-Ireland Lamb Shears championship title at this year’s Ploughing Championships.

Ivan Scott, a 32-year-old native of Kilmacrennan, was raised on a sheep and dairy farm. He emigrated to New Zealand when he was 20.

Seven years later, in 2008, he broke the world record for sheep shearing - 736 in eight hours. He set a new world record again last year, this time shearing 744 sheep in eight hours.

Around 90,000 people attended the second day of this year’s Ploughing Championships yesterday in Ratheniska, Stadbally Co. Laois.
