A man has pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault committed in Donegal 20 years ago.
He pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a male at a location in north Donegal between December 1st 1993 and January 31st 1994.
The man, who has an address in the Republic but who is originally from the North, cannot be named. He changed his plea to guilty at Letterkenny Circuit Court after a jury had been empanelled to hear the trial. The victim broke down in tears in court when the guilty plea was heard. Judge John O’Hagan thanked those involved in the investigation for the delicate manner in which it was handled. He ordered the man to be added to the register of sex offenders.
A probation and welfare report as well as a victim impact statement are to be prepared for sentencing the next term of Letterkenny Circuit Court
