A member of Donegal’s All-Ireland winning 1992 team has hit out at what he termed the thuggery which he says “is now becoming a dangerous feature of the game”, adding that if serious action is not taken, “someone is going to end up in a coffin.”

A member of Donegal’s All-Ireland winning 1992 team has hit out at what he termed the thuggery which he says “is now becoming a dangerous feature of the game”, adding that if serious action is not taken, “someone is going to end up in a coffin.”

His comments follow the incident in which a young GAA player, Ronan Lennon, sustained serious facial injuries in a Division One Reserve league match in Letterkenny on Sunday last. A Naomh Conaill player was also hospitalised.

Naomh Conaill secretary, Vincent Cranley did not wish to comment on the matter when contacted by the Donegal Democrat yesterday, other than to say the club were unhappy with the way the matter was portrayed in the press.

The Donegal CCC are expected to discuss the matter for the first time when they meet this evening (Thursday).
