Three Donegal men who drove and an incredible 1,000 miles through Alaska to the frozen arctic ocean 350 miles north of the arctic circle, have presented nearly €30,000 to local charities.

Denis Ferry, Les O’Donnell and Paul Doherty raised €29,622.51 through their phenomenal initiative.

Speaking on their behalf, Paul told the Donegal Democrat: “We would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who bought a ticket and/or gave a donation as without them this wouldn’t have been possible. We set out with the intention of raising money from local people for local charities and to raise €29,622.51 is fantastic so once more, Thank You.”

The Donegal Hospice, Letterkenny General Hospital Pulmonary Care Patient Fund and Cairde Le Cheile each received €9,874.17.

Rumour has it the logistics are already being put into place for the three local trekkers to drive another one of the world’s most dangerous road in Bolivia.

There, the temperature averages +36 degrees rather than the -36 degrees like it was inside the arctic circle!
