A Burtonport based representative has called on vandals to leave their signs alone. Fianna Fáil councillor, David Alcorn, said that a sign that cost around €200 has been broken in recent days much to the consternation of the local community.

The sign which helped both tourists and locals along their way on the Burtonport railway walk was paid for by monies raised mostly by the local community.

“The community is angry about this. Most of the monies that were raised for this project was done so by the community themselves,” David Alcorn said.

The signs were erected last year and since their establishment the Burtonport walk has become exceptionally popular.
