McGinley clarifies transport expenses

Dinny McGinley, TD, minister of state for the Gaeltacht, has rejected media reports of his transport expenses last year, calling the reports “completely misleading”.

Minister McGinley said that in respect to his position at the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, his total transport costs amounted to about €118,000 last year.

“However, this does not mean that this was paid to me directly,” he said. The minister of state said most of that amount was for the salary and expenses for two drivers.

“Of the total amount of €118,000, my mileage and other travel costs amounted to €25,691 in 2012,” Minister McGinley said.
