One local lad is chuffed to bits after receiving a hand-written letter from his hero, TV’s best known presenter of nature programmes, Sir David Attenborough.
Joseph Stewart, a 9-year-old from Kinlough, who would like to be a naturalist when he grows up, wrote to Sir David to tell him how much he enjoys his programmes. He also asked the veteran naturalist about his favourite and most feared animals.
In his handwritten reply, Sir David said that he couldn’t name a favourite as there are so many wonderful creatures and that the animal he would least like to meet was a king cobra snake.
Joe told the Democrat that he was surprised and delighted when the letter arrived. “I wrote to Sir David Attenborough because I admire him, I love his nature programmes and he is the most famous naturalist in the world. It was lovely of him to write back and answer my questions.”
