The newly elected Chairman of Donegal Co-Operative Livestock Mart Ltd. has condemned the sending of anonymous letters.

The newly elected Chairman of Donegal Co-Operative Livestock Mart Ltd. has condemned the sending of anonymous letters.

William McElhinney was elected as Chairman at last night’s meeting.

Siobhan McGroarty was elected Vice-Chair, Seamus McGrory Treasurer, Seamus Carbin was re-elected as Secretary, Liam Travers Shares Officer and Joel McCrea PRO.

Mr McElhinney said “he hopes to continue the good work that we done last year, to continue to develop the mart and maintain our good working relationship with the mart manager and staff.”

He added: “I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the committee to condemn the sending of anonymous letters.”

The Donegal Democrat wishes to clarify that anonymous letters were sent to two people associated with the mart, not to committee members as reported in today’s paper. The letters were handed in to the gardaí, who are investigating.

The new committee have agreed to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting, following receipt of a request to do so.

Shareholders will be notified by post of the date, time and venue of the meeting.
