Many of us go day to day worrying about the little things in life, but when you hear the compelling journey of a young girl, Rhianna McBride, daughter of Neil and Caroline McBride of Lifford, it might just make you re-think your worries.
When Rhianna was born, her family got the devastating news that she was going to have to undergo a Liver transplant as soon as possible. At only three weeks old Rhianna was flew to Kings College Hospital, London to undergo that very transplant.
Throughout her life Rhianna has had to attend Our Lady’s Hospital, Crumlin, Dublin for continuous check ups and has special medication to take every day of her life.
Now 10 years on, Rhianna is still going strong and most likely one of the bubbliest and energetic children you will ever meet.
To celebrate the last 10 years Rhianna, her family and friends will be holding a Charity walk in aid of the Liver G.I Unit at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children, Crumlin, Dublin on Sunday next, June 10, exactly 10 years to the day of Rihanna’s Liver transplant.
The Charity walk will commence at Naomh Padraig GAA Pitch, Lifford at 3pm, up the Main Street in Lifford, down by Topaz and back to the GAA Pitch again where Rhianna, her family and friends will release 10 balloons in memory of her donor. Light refreshments will then be served in the Naomh Padriag GAA Club House.
Rhianna, her family and friends would like to take this opportunity to encourage everyone of all ages to come along and join them on the Charity walk and this very monumental day. The donation fee for Adult walkers is €5 and Children walkers are €1.
