Man to face trial for attempted murder

A man charged with the attempted murder of a Letterkenny man and the murder of a Derry man has been sent forward to face trial at Derry Magistrate’s Court.

A man charged with the attempted murder of a Letterkenny man and the murder of a Derry man has been sent forward to face trial at Derry Magistrate’s Court.

Paul Greatbanks, with an address at Maghaberry Prison, appeared at a preliminary enquiry.

The 47 year old was charged with the murder of Patrick Harkin and the attempted murder of Letterkenny musician, Paul Mythen, from Leckview Cottages on February 20th last year at Bayview Terrace, Derry.

Greatbanks said he did not wish to call any witnesses or make any statement at this time.

He was returned for trial to appear at Laganside Court in Belfast on June 22.

Mr Mythen suffered severe injuries in the incident and is still in hospital as a result.
