Bundoran RNLI provided assistance to eleven swimmers taking part in Saturday’s triathlon at Mullaghmore in Sligo.
All swimmers were assisted to shore but did not require any further medical attention.
With more than 500 triathletes competing in tough conditions, Martin Caldwell of the local sailing club, which organised the event, said that more swimmers than usual required help.
“Safety is an absolute priority in an event such as this and having Bundoran RNLI in the bay was a terrific support,” he added.
The William Henry Liddington vessel was on exercise for the duration of the swim yesterday morning.
