“Pure mayhem - the worst breakdown of Public Order I have dealt with” - Judge

At a special sitting of Dungloe District Court this week Judge Paul Kelly described the ordeal the situation four of the county’s tallest Gardai encountered during a melee in West Donegal as “pure mayhem, terrifying and the worst that he had dealt with in his tenure as a judge.”

At a special sitting of Dungloe District Court this week Judge Paul Kelly described the ordeal the situation four of the county’s tallest Gardai encountered during a melee in West Donegal as “pure mayhem, terrifying and the worst that he had dealt with in his tenure as a judge.”

The court was told that one of the Gardai was blinded in the melee when he tried to use a pepper-spray to free himself from a headlock while his stab vest was being pulled over his head. The Garda also said that he was being kicked and punched.
