Ballyshannon’s new Mayor pledges to tackle drugs problem

The newly elected Mayor of Ballyshannon, Fine Gael Cllr. Phonsie Travers pledged to tackle the drugs problem in the town in his opening address to the chamber last night.

The newly elected Mayor of Ballyshannon, Fine Gael Cllr. Phonsie Travers pledged to tackle the drugs problem in the town in his opening address to the chamber last night.

Travers, who has been Mayor of Ballyshannon on two previous occasions, succeeded Cllr. John Meehan as Mayor of the Erneside Town.

The Mayor told fellow councillors that one of his top priorities in the coming year would be to tackle the “scourge of drugs” in the town.

“There is no point in pretending that we do not have a problem, we do and I am going to meet it head on.”
