Family, friends, classmates and neighbours were united in grief on Saturday as 13-year-old Aimee Lee Meehan (pictured above right) was laid to rest at St. Mary’s Church, Killymard, just outside Donegal town. The First Year student at Abbey Vocational School passed away suddenly in the early hours of last Wednesday morning after being taken from her home in Dromore, Mountcharles by ambulance to Letterkenny General Hospital.

Fr. Seamus Dagens, PP Ballintra, said Aimee Lee was “a special young child, a little angel who took everything in her stride”. Her death, he added, was one of the saddest events he ever witnessed.

Fr Dagens continued: “Everyone in this whole community feels it and it is very hard to accept. How could God allow her to be called so young? She deserved more. Does God care? Has he forgotten? I have no answers.”

Aimee Lee is survived by her parents Padraic and Louise, grandparents Pat and Mary Martin, and extended family.
