Fresh from receiving the Freedom of Donegal on Friday last, Donegal’s greatest ambassador proved a hit once again as hundreds of fans and well-wishers gathered on the Quayside in Donegal Town to wish both Daniel and Majella well as they embarked on a trip along their Donegal Shores.

Tickets for this once in a lifetime trip were instantly snapped up a few weeks ago when details of the trip were announced. However, hundreds still gathered in the hope of maybe a cancellation or two.

Daniel and Majella were lending a hand to the Donegal Community Band who, since their formation have made a big impact on both the local community and the county in general.

Patsy McNuly told the Donegal Democrat, “We are delighted that both Daniel and Majella could be with us here today - they have helped us raise invaluable funds for the band’s upkeep.

“As always, Daniel has proved that he never forgets his own early days and is always keen to encourage new talent. We are extremely grateful to both of them. As we all know he received the Freedom of Donegal last week - there simply is no person more deserving.”

Entertained

Daniel and Majella chatted and entertained the packed crowds on the Waterbus and enjoyed the appearance of the multitude of seals at the famous seal sanctuary in Mullinasole Bay.

The couple were welcomed back on shore by the young members of the Donegal Town Community Band who give a rousing performance for Donegal’s most loved couple.
