Donegal County Council this week released information showing it made 49 payments totalling more than €483,000 between 1996 and 2004 to Stephen Cang.

The latest information was released following a question to the council by independent councillor Terence Slowey. The information shows a total of €3.2m was paid to Mr Cang and three different companies between 1996 and 2012.

Concerns about the lack of proper tendering procedures around payments for the project first were raised in a report by the local government auditor in 2010.
