Stunned by deaths

The south of Donegal was plunged into mourning over the weekend with news of the deaths of three women, including two from the same family in Mullinasole. Monica Connolly (87) of Mullinasole, passed away at Sligo General Hospital on Friday after a brief illness. Her funeral was held at St Brigid’s Church, Ballintra on Sunday morning. The former teacher at St Eunan’s NS, Laghey is survived by her sisters, Frances Timony, Claire Connolly and Anne Connolly.

On learning of her death, nephew Hugh Logan and his wife Katherine travelled from their home in Mullingar to Mullinasole where a tragic accident befell Katherine. The mother of four will be laid to rest on Wednesday in the Cathedral of Christ the King, Mullingar. Rosaleen Quinn, whose husband Charles is the son of Mary B and the late Peter Quinn of Water Street, Donegal town, also died following a tragic accident at the weekend near Portmarnock, Co. Dublin.
