There was welcome news at this week’s meeting of Ballyshannon Town Council when the Town Manager confirmed that the Library which had closed last December would re - open again.

Liam Ward, Ballyshannon Town Manager said, “I have spoken to the Director of Services in Donegal Co. Council and the County Librarian and we are working towards having the library re-opened as soon as possible.

“At this juncture I am not in a position to confirm the opening hours or when it will actually open again but I can confirm that the library which is a valuable asset to the town, will re - open.”

Mr. Ward also confirmed that it would not be in the County Council’s interests to have any of the resources removed from the existing library or to have the library closed permanently.

“The books, computer equipment and all other ancillary services will all remain here in the library for use when it re-opens.”
